Welcome to my online journal. I'm Alex Mead. For many years people
called me AMPro --so much so that it seemed like my name. More recently,
a lot of people on the internet have come to know me as green.earth.al.
In case anyone's been wondering what I've been up to, this journal is a
place to find out.

Catchin up...
(this news item posted on December.15.2003)
Hey, I'm Stopping to take a breath, and a look back at what we've accomplished lately. Going day by day it's pretty easy to lose sight of the tremendous strides we've made in Western New York so I've been trying to find some ways to capture a little of what we forced into existence in 2003. I think we've succeeded masterfully with our holiday gift from the Western New York Peace Center to the entire local peace community, the Waging Peace Gallery. Still a bit of a work in progress, but this gallery of photos compiled by Jim Whitlock and myself capture a lot of moments not to be forgotten. Sorry about the time to download some of them but we wanted to keep them in high resolution and sharp as possible because they're photos that we're really fond of. Waging Peace Gallery = http://www.wnypeace.org/gallery.shtml And for those who prefer a thousand words to a picture I have compiled a list of some of the things that stood out to me as milestones for 2003. 2003 in Review = http://www.allpowertothepeople.com/events/2003.shtml Articles: Here are a few articles we've published lately. We're trying to keep you informed with what's going on with your fellow freedom fighters. http://www.allpowertothepeople.com/events/CMTrial.shtml Mike Niman critiques the Buffalo News' vindictive and misleading coverage of the Critical Mass trial. This has not been published in Art Voice so make sure you read this here if you haven't already read it on MIke's Site ( MediaStudy.com ) http://www.allpowertothepeople.com/events/SOA2003.shtml Alice Gerard went to fort Benning and while there she crossed the line. She went onto the base and was arrested, drawing attention to the fact that year after year our money is being used to train central and south american millitaries to kill their own people and suppress dissent and crush the struggle for workers' rights in developing countries. Her article is an interesting look at what happens behind the scenes and what protesters are subjected to in custody. http://www.corporations-suck.com/CKs/Niman/BAoReal.shtml Mike Niman rescues history from the memory hole comparing the reality of today's media to the fiction of Goerge Orwell's 1984. Tough to say which one is scarier. Websites: http://www.coalitionagainstpoliceabuse.com/ The Coalition Against Police Abuse is an organization of concerned individuals who formed in reaction to the fact that law enforcement around the country, but in Buffalo in particular, has taken leave of their senses. With the attacks by police this year on the Critical Mass Ride, a teenaged girl, a bus driver, and persons just trying to observe the police carrying out their duties, something needs to be done. Please support this effort. Bookmark the website, get involved, show up to the Elizabeth Oliver court case on Wednesday December 17th, make yourself heard. http://www.narimanforcongress.com Ayesha Nariman is running for Congress in 2004 against Tom Reynolds. This is very important. Tom Reynolds is one of the very biggest money raisers for the republican party and many feel that he is being groomed to eventually become speaker of the house. His congression district has recently been redrawn to make sure that it encompasses as many Republican voters as possible so that he can not be touched. We need to start NOW and get VERY active to make sure that Ayesha Nariman replaces Tom Reynolds in the UNited States Congress. Volunteer, donate money, email all your friends, do whatever you have to do to set these wheels in motion because the whole country's future can be radically improved if we could defeat Tom Reynolds. May Peace be with you -Alex www.GBINet.info We will be starting our official GBINet newsletter in 2004. But you can sign up for it today. http://www.gbinet.info/accounts.cgi In the meantime, please feel encouraged to pass any of this info on.
