journalWelcome to my online journal. I'm Alex Mead. For many years people called me AMPro --so much so that it seemed like my name. More recently, a lot of people on the internet have come to know me as green.earth.al and in show biz...My Rap Name is Alex. Whatever name I'm known by, I still seem to have the same opinions and convictions, I still like to write and make public my introspection and try to say something that will provoke some thoughts and help people see the world in new and helpful ways.

Right-o So last week I got a chance to visit Western North Carolina and teach break dancing to ms. Kaufman's dance classes. If you find yourself wandering through the lush green mounatinside of western North Carolina, be careful who you challenge to a break dance battle. There are now many young ladies in the region that are quite ready for the battle.

So, yeah. Getting to see fuuse/Opus people during the year is about the coolest thing. Financially, something I could totall not affort to do. Experientially, something I couldn't afford not to do. Money's only money. The experience is something I will remember always.

I wish I had more time to write about it, but my computer problems continue. I have to borrow a minute here and there on the computers of friends. I have some great pictures from my trip and I'll post them here if I ever get a computer working from home.

So, as many times as I keep getting back up... life keeps on kicking me back down. I'll keep getting back up, but man... my teeth hurt.

So my internet connection stopped working and now I'm typingon a library computer with a stuck space bar. I've been forced back into the work force (a "real job") after six years of enjoyable self employment. Not that the job isn't a perfectly fine place to be but man are jobs ever inflexible about schedules and wanting to to be places when they want you to be there and all that. I just hope that I don't end up having to wear a watch (I'm still wearing my Ally band from Opus on my wrist. Reminds me to be an ally to my community.)

The mountain of bills is pretty hostile these days, all of my friends are locked under the same or similar mountains of problems. World's pretty much gone to hell in a handbasket. The guy next to me at the library is having to unload some venom on the people on the other end of his cell phone while he's paying his bills. Things are tough all over I guess. But oh well. I'm loved. And cared about. And they can't stop me from creating cool stuff to share with the world.

So on I go. Kick me again. I'm all about still getting up.

My rap career: Went to open mic last night. I wasn't that confident in the piece I was doing. I have it 95% memorized or so. I was going to skip going up, but my friends and I were making a pact to go up even if we didn't feel like it so I went up and a guy was talking all through my recitation. People still really liked it, I guess I did okay but it felt better last week.

Community: So dinners at the housing co-op have been going really well. I really like the kids that live there. It's sort of like "the Real World" IF you picked people that actually can get along instead of deliberately selecting people to maximize drama.

Travels: The RNC protest in NYC was fun. I got to take pictures for the Buff State Students for Peace and I got to snap a couple photos of Michael Moore with my buddy Jim'a camera (since mine is still dead (and he has really top of the line cameras))

More Travels: Okay, about the coolest thing ever. I just bought plane tickets to go visit Jessica the childcare goddess from Opus2003 --who I had really been missing at Opus2004-- and I get to teach dance. And Jessica is awesome.

The Authoring: On the bus to NYC I met more cool people from around here and one bought my Book so I've now sold 42 copies. I'm really eager to get to 50. I'm a bit disappointed in having gone on the radio twice now for an hour each time and generated no sales from it. :(

So it's about a month since Opus and I still feel like I love everyone, no exceptions.
