AMProSoft Company Information
AMProSoft (Am-Pro-Soft) Alex Mead Producshunz Software

History

AMProSoft was born out of a Computer Math class in Lafayette High School in Buffalo, NY during the 1987-88 school year. The wise and benificent teacher, Mr. Alderdice, handed me the BASIC manual one day after I had gotten very far ahead of most of the class and encouraged me to teach myself (which I did). It wasn't much later that I discovered the joys of computer graphics. Oh sure they were 4 color 320x200 resolution graphics, but they WERE graphics, and as the programs grew in sophistication, I began adding a banner on the end which read "Alex Mead Producshunz".

For the next couple years I made very simple graphical programs. I tried giving them out, but people needed to know how to use BASIC in order to load and run them, so that didn't get very far. Then in August of 1991 I discovered QuickBASIC and learned how to compile programs. I got so excited over it all that I crafted some of my graphics programs into games, got myself a P.O. Box, wrote the very first AMProGram (1 page), and declaired myself to be in business.

I came out with some pretty good games for the time period. I was getting better and better at it, I was starting to get noticed more and more. I made it into a few national shareware catalogs, and onto some good shareware CDs and stuff. But the world began to evolve away from me, as Bill Gates picked up the Earth and stuffed it into a little box called Windows. My games had all kinds of compatability issues trying to run under the Windows environment, and I am still in the process of learning to make Windows games. It is a lot more involved, and nothing like the days when you could just pull some graphics and music together around some code. Now one has to pay exorbitant amounts to buy graphics capabilities and more to buy music, and a whole bunch to buy the programming language , ah but I digress. Anyway, now if I could find the time, I could start cranking out the games again, the problem is trying to find the time. But I will, because I must. Games call to me to be written and I must answer.

Okay, with an appology for the disjointedness of this story, I'll get back to the details.

In January of 1996, I officially registered my business with New York State, and in the past few months I have procured my own domain name (I bet you already knew that), and I am adding credit card processing abilities. The company is beginning to have more cash available, so we're looking into advertizing and the whole bit. It would seem to me that there are big things on the horizon for AMProSoft now, but it's always seemed that way to me, and only time will tell.
